The K to 2nd Grade Read Aloud list provides a selection of books that are entertaining, beautiful, informative and funny and intended to be read out loud to children from approximately 5 to 8 years of age. Reading aloud develops vocabulary, exposes children to new information, encourages imagination and develops a love of literature.

The Grade 3 to 5 List contains books that children from approximately 9 to 12 of age can read independently or with a little help. Children at this age need to be encouraged to read broadly. Recreational reading is crucial to later school success.

Good Reads for Young Adolescents feature material that matches the vocabulary and interest of readers from approximately 12 to 14 years of age.
