To support the mission of the BCIU, the Non-Public division strives to ensure optimal student growth through collaborative initiative, design and delivery of exemplary services.
At this time, more than 140 nonpublic schools in Bucks County are eligible to receive services for their students, and over 18,300 students in nonpublic schools benefit annually from these services.

Available Services

The Safe and Drug Free Department offers a variety of means designed to effectively instruct students, professionals and parents within the educational setting. These offerings can be utilized as stand alone services, or work in conjunction with other resources.

  • Training and Programming: Trainings by Intermediate Unit education professionals are conducted in the areas of violence prevention and alcohol/tobacco/ other drug prevention. Training is available to (K - 12) public and non-public schools, parents, and school personnel. For specific eligibility requirements, go to Eligibility Requirements.
  • Lending Library: The department maintains a robust lending library that includes curricular, electronic, and bound book and video resources relating to numerous subject matters including: alcohol/tobacco/other drugs; peer mediation; bullying; parenting skills; student assistance related material; conflict resolution; eating disorders; suicide; depression and anger management.   • Consultation: Technical assistance and consultation in the areas of alcohol/tobacco/other drugs, violence prevention, and contracted student assistance programs are available by Intermediate Unit professionals. The consultation structure is flexible and can take place via the phone, email or in person.
  • Sponsored Training and In-services: As funding allows, the department hosts a variety of in-service opportunities for school professionals, prevention providers, and parents. Recent in-service topics have included Current Drug Trends, Internet Safety, Relational Aggression, and Bullying. Act 48 Credits are offered for most of the sponsored trainings and in-services.
