The Bucks County Schools Intermediate Unit strongly believes that professional development plays a large role in the success of our newly hired teachers. Our Act 48 Professional Education Advisory Council meets several times each year in order to monitor and evaluate all professional learning experiences which include the Induction Program. In order to monitor this most effectively the Advisory Council has created two tools to collect data. The first tool collects information from the inductees within the program. This is specific to the inductees' perceptions of the organization of the program as well as its connection to each of the Pennsylvania Department of Education's 13 Professional Education Criteria. The second tool collects information from the mentors. This generates data relative to the mentors' perceptions of the program and provides a forum for recommendations to be made to enhance the program in the future. Both pieces of data are important.
