The Bucks County Schools Intermediate Unit provides a variety of high quality instructional programs and support services that assist the 13 local districts in fulfilling their obligation to meet the needs of students with disabilities. A professional staff of specialists works with students, parents, and school district personnel to assure the optimal development of each learner.

Deaf and Hard of Hearing Programs

 

 

The Itinerant Program for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing provides support for students ages 5-21 whose skills allow them to function with assistance in a regular educational setting.  The degree of hearing loss may range from mild to profound. Individualized Educational Programs address all aspects of adjustment (social, emotional, academic) related to the hearing loss.

Maximum Class Size:    State Regulations and Standards Elementary and Secondary: 15-50

Instructional Assistants: None

Students are provided support services in the following areas:  Any or all of social, emotional, or academic areas may be addressed as necessary in relation to the hearing loss.

 

The Primary Goal is to:  Assist each student in compensating for his/her hearing deficit in order to adjust to a hearing society and to maximize academic achievement.

 

 

Related Services are included in the basic program.
