The Bucks County Schools Intermediate Unit provides a variety of high quality instructional programs and support services that assist the 13 local districts in fulfilling their obligation to meet the needs of students with disabilities. A professional staff of specialists works with students, parents, and school district personnel to assure the optimal development of each learner.

Social Work Services

 

 

The social worker provides support and intervention for students with behavioral and/or emotional needs or for a student experiencing a crisis in his/her life. The social worker serves as a resource to school personnel, parents and students regarding problem-solving, behavior management techniques, crisis intervention, developing strategies to teach appropriate social, behavioral and adaptive skills and to facilitate interagency collaboration.

 

The Primary Goal is to: Provide support services for students who have behavioral and emotional needs.

 

 

Related Services are included in the basic program.

  • Consultation with Professional Staff Regarding Programmatic Needs of Exceptional Students

  • Assists with IEP Development
  • Participates in Multidisciplinary Evaluations and Re-evaluations
  • Liaison with Community Agencies
