In mid to late August 2002, the Bucks County IU made some changes to its network
that affect access to e-mail for clients that
use the IU or Bucks County Schools Internet Cooperative mail sever to
receive and store their mail.
We upgraded our mail server software to provide better e-mail service.
We are renaming our mail server, and we are moving the Bucks County IU to
a new Internet domain name.
The new mail server supports better anti-virus tools for email viruses,
better filtering tools for unsolicited commercial email (spam) and
provides a web-based mail client for easier access to email from any
Internet connected computer in the world. To access the web-based mail client vist:
http://mail.bucksiu.org
The mail server name has changed from "bucksnet" to "mail"
Our domain name has changed from the long and hard to type "bciu.k12.pa.us"
to the shorter "bucksiu.org"
This means that all e-mail addresses of BCIU and Coop e-mail users changed
from <username>@bucksiu.org to <username>@bucksiu.org. It
also means that the fully qualified name of our mail server has changed
from: "bucksnet.bciu.k12.pa.us" to "mail.bucksiu.org"
If you are unable to access your e-mail because your mail program is
telling you it can't find or can't communicate with the mail server
"bucksnet.bciu.k12.pa.us" but you can still see the BCIU web site
with a web browser, you need to update your mail program's settings.
Below are the names of seven commonly used email programs. Click on the
name of the program you use to download and view an Adobe Reader
.PDF document that describes step-by-step how to change the settings in
that e-mail program to cope with the recent network and server changes we
are making. Please print the document and use it as a guide for fixing
your email program settings.
