Adult Programs and Services

Our new Adult Programs and Services is a natural extension, and continuum, to our exceptional birth to age 21 programs in support of persons with disabilities. It has been specially designed to be person-centered and growth oriented. The expertise and decades of knowledge we provide through our educational services to Bucks County youth with special needs, has created a strong foundation for these new adult programs.  Additionally, many may find comfort in the familiarity of having had services from us throughout their development, and being able to continue with us now.

Persons with disabilities, aged 21 and older, may be eligible for these new Adult Programs and Services from the Bucks IU.  If you are unsure of eligibility or who to contact for information, the Bucks IU is happy to assist you.  Contact the Bucks IU Adult Programs and Services team at 215-348-2940 Ext. 1330, or email  The Bucks IU’s Adult Programs and Services are offered in accordance with the Office of Development Programs (ODP).

SEQUEL: Community Participation Support Program

This program is designed to enhance the ability of the participant to lead a self-determined, more independent lifestyle.  We match the individual’s preferences, needs, and interests to the specific supports and interventions that will help them develop meaningful community relationships and opportunities. We accomplish this through a focus on 4 specific areas:

  • Life Experience - Provide the experiences, opportunities and supports necessary to be an engaged member of the community
  • Independence - Build life and job skills, and abilities that encourage independence and value in the community
  • Personal Growth and Development - Support being a good neighbor, friend and/or co‐worker
  • Relationships - Nurture community relationships supporting inclusion by creating a presence that is meaningful and appreciated

SEQUEL supports families, empowers individuals, offers quality services with an understanding of people’s differences, and engages meaningfully with the local community. Through this process, participants develop skills for potential competitive integrated employment, build natural supports, and increase their independence.
