2020 STEM Design Challenge

For Bucks County Students

Student teams, grouped by grades 4-5 and 6-8, will be given this year’s specific design challenge.  They must then provide a journal documenting their concepts and plans, along with a final design blueprint of their proposed solution.  Upon arrival at the competition, they will need to successfully assemble their creation for judging.  The winners of each grade level competition will advance on to the Pennsylvania state competition.

Registration opens at 8:00am on January 3, 2020 with the first 20 teams registered for each competition, receiving a free K’Nex kit.  Please be sure to carefully review the registration details below.

Registration Details

Please review these details carefully prior to registering your team (links for grade specific registrations can be found at the top of this page).  For each of the two separate school level competitions (i.e. for the elementary AND separately for the middle school) the following applies:

  • Each competition is limited to a total of 65 teams
  • Registration is on a first come, first serve basis and will automatically close once 65 teams have registered
    • The first 20 teams registered to each competition will receive free K’Nex kits
  • Each school building may register up to two teams for each competition
  • Every team must be registered separately
  • Every school building must provide a judge in order to participate in this competition – should you arrive without a judge, you may be unable to compete
    • You will need to register your judge when you register your team
  • Each teacher may register one chaperone
