Supporting Neglected and Delinquent Students (Title 1)

The Bucks IU provides consultation and support to those Bucks County residential facilities that apply for Title I Neglected or Delinquent (Title I N&D) funding. This state funding creates supplemental supports that address at-risk students’ transition needs, successful return to school, or progress toward their general equivalency diploma (GED).

Currently, the Bucks IU supports nine facilities that individually create various supplemental programming including professional development, art therapy, music therapy, summer school experiences, technology, equine therapy, remedial reading, and math.

The Goals of Title I N&D Funds:

  • Improve the educational services for our youth so they have the opportunity to meet challenging state academic content and achievement standards
  • Provide students with services to successfully transition from institutionalization to further schooling or employment
  • Prevent youth who are at-risk from dropping out of school
  • Create and provide a support system to ensure and encourage the continued education of children and youth at-risk of dropping out of school, those who have dropped out, and those returning from correctional facilities

Partnership Consultation

The Bucks IU works individually with each facility to ensure grant compliance with supports including:

  • Institution narrative
  • Budget support
  • Assistance with the design of the supplemental services that will be offered as outlined through the "Needs Assessment"
  • Performance goals: design, collection, and reporting
