Formative Assessment and Differentiated Classrooms
The course offers new and veteran teachers detailed information and practical strategies to effectively begin or enhance formative assessment and differentiated instruction in the classroom. The course focuses on increasing student achievement and learning outcomes through; understanding and implementing the elements of the formative assessment process in the classroom, using formative assessment data to inform instruction and develop tiered lessons that will address all student needs, and exploring strategies and tools to assist with the natural integration of formative assessment and differentiation into all educator's instruction.
Given a great number of resources and readings on formative assessment, by the end of this course, all participants will:
- Identify, describe, evaluate and synthesize essential ideas while reading several articles and informative resources on formative assessment.
- Apply learned information by developing formative assessment and differentiation strategies for the classroom.
- Develop tiered lesson plans, as well as lesson plans focusing on GRR elements.
- Implement formative assessment strategies and use collected student data to differentiate and inform instruction in the classroom.
- Participate in online group discussions, synthesizing information, ideas, and opinions, and responding in an informative and professional manner.
- Utilize online educational tools (examples of alternate methods of assessment) to complete assignments
