Community Emergency Response Training

We are inviting our community members, businesses, and organizations to a specially designed Community Emergency Response Training program. Attendees will receive training in two specific areas of interest; attack prevention/preparedness and lifesaving techniques. This training is being provided by the Bucks IU Safety and Security Services Team.

The first half of the day will focus on Active Shooter Attack Prevention and Preparedness (ASAPP) training will prepare and empower citizens with the knowledge and skills necessary to survive an active shooter incident in any environment (i.e., office, shopping center, house of worship, school, or government building). The two-hour, hands-on, scenario-based training provides the tools to develop plans and responses to active shooter situations, including strategies for when to run, hide, or fight. Attendees will also learn lifesaving techniques, including how to apply a tourniquet.

The second half will be a training on "Stop the Bleed.” A bleeding injury can happen anywhere. We've all seen it-on the news or in everyday life. Life-threatening bleeding can happen when people are injured in serious accidents or disasters. Instead of being a witness, you can become an immediate responder because you know how to Stop the Bleed. The person next to a bleeding victim may very well be the one who's most likely to save him or her from bleeding to death. By learning how to Stop the Bleed, you'll gain the ability to recognize life-threatening bleeding and act quickly and effectively to control bleeding once you learn three quick techniques. As a result of taking this course you will become empowered to make a life-or-death difference when a bleeding emergency happens.
