Defined STEM: Connecting Careers, Standards-Based Content, Skills and Projects

This Defined STEM professional learning experience will provide participants with an overview of Defined STEM and the pedagogical connections to careers, authentic learning and project based learning. Participants will engage in an active modeling experience working through a performance task and utilizing the available resources to complete the task. Once complete, the group will engage in reflection to determine benefits and barriers to be considered in all schools.

The second part of the time will involve an overview of the Defined STEM resource highlighting opportunities for standards-alignment, personalization, and navigation. Participants will learn how to assign tasks to students and classes through the project and portfolio manager system based upon standards, 21st century skills, and/or career relevance.

Finally, participants will explore the resource to determine tasks that can be utilized in the classroom, aligned with curriculum, and assigned to students.
