Gifted Ed 101: Day Two

Gifted Ed 101: Day Two will pick up from where Gifted Ed 101: Day One left off. The workshop will highlight the gifted options of enrichment and acceleration as designated by Chapter 16 and how they fit into GIEP development. Specifically, enrichment strategies such as curriculum compacting, tiered lessons, project-based learning, and curriculum integration of such strategies will be outlined. The latest research on acceleration and types of acceleration will also be explored. In addition, Day Two will focus on specialized program options for gifted students such as seminars and critical and creative thinking strategies and where such options fit into GIEP development
1. Participants will learn the definitions of enrichment and acceleration as designated by Chapter 16.
2. Participants will learn about the enrichment strategies that can be offered to gifted students via their GIEP.
3. Participants will learn the research on acceleration and will explore how the types of acceleration can be integrated into the overall curriculum.
4. Participants will learn the value of homogeneous groups for gifted students such as seminars and what role such options play in GIEP development.
