Successful Communication and Listening - BCCC Training

Communication is an essential core competency of effective leadership and achievement throughout an organization. Nonverbal communication represents as much as two-thirds of communication. One of the imperatives of working at the "thinking" level of leadership and professional performance is that our thoughts are "projected" as communication, and our beliefs and thinking swerve to filter and flavor how we interpret our world. To improve the communication competencies, our work begins at the thinking level. We take the case that our language shapes and creates the world we see and have. An overview of topics include: The power of words; The power of stories; The role of the subconscious; Speech acts; Grounding assessments; Listening with and for integrity; Managing drift; Feedback as an indispensable tool for growth; Checking in and checking out understanding; Appreciative inquiry; Courageous conversations
Training by Bucks County Community College. Outcomes begin with increased self-awareness and practices to increase each participant's capacity and competency of observation and, correspondingly, the quality and quantity of information received and understood in conversation, including information in what is not said in conversation. The program expands participants' ability to be expressed in ways that improve the results of their communication, gaining greater control, influence, and effect form how and what they speak. In class exercises will demonstrate how each participant can practice and master the learning such that new patterns and habits that increase the success of their communication are maintained and continue to grow long after the program.
