REGARDING THE JANUARY 19, 2021 MEETING OF THE BOARD OF SCHOOL DIRECTORS

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Bucks IU Board of School Directors will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at 7:00 pm.  Prior to the Board Meeting, there will be a Finance Committee Meeting at 6:30 PM. Per the Bucks IU Health and Safety plan in response to COVID-19, the meetings will be held virtually and are open to the public.

Tackling Cyberbullying through Positive School Climate

This regional professional learning session will introduce educators to specific, pragmatic school climate initiatives that they can implement in their schools. Join colleagues from across Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties to learn how to marshal the powers of peer influence and school culture to curtail peer conflict, harassment, and other problem behaviors whether they are over text, social media, or gaming platforms. A positive school climate can improve connectedness, belongingness, morale, peer respect, and ethical decision-making.

This session will explore
The prevalence, scope, and frequency of cyberbullying
What the research says about the influence of school climate
How to set the tone regarding student behavioral expectations
The importance of creative responses and high-engagement activities
The value of formal peer-led initiatives that tap into their unique talents and abilities
New ways to understand student experiences and how to include student voices in policies and programming
