Teacher in the Workplace Virtual Career Academy

Teacher in the Workplace is a grant program designed to connect educators to local business leaders and employers from whom they can learn about industry trends, needs, and opportunities. The Bucks IU will be facilitating a Virtual Career Academy where participants will connect with regional industry leaders as a means of supporting and enhancing their student's college and career readiness. This program aims to improve educators' classroom instruction, student learning, and career readiness awareness with a focus on these 3 career areas: STEM, Health Sciences, and Manufacturing and Entrepreneurism.

Participating Bucks County educators will be designing a project-based learning plan to be used with students during the 2021-2022 school year. Upon successful completion of the project-based learning plan, teachers will be compensated $400. All participants will need to provide W-9 documentation and to sign an agreement in order to be compensated.

Teachers will develop a deeper understanding of today's Pennsylvania and Bucks County workforce and future projections.

Teachers will learn about local businesses in the areas of STEM, Health Sciences, and Manufacturing and Entrepreneurism and will make connections with these businesses.

Teachers will learn about the components of project-based learning plans and will apply that knowledge in developing a plan for classroom use.
