Teacher Workshop: Using Art to Teach About Ecology and The Environment

Join the Michener Art Museum's education staff in a deeper exploration of the work in the exhibition, "Rising Tides: Contemporary Art and the Ecology of Water." Be inspired by artists whose work celebrates the natural world and encourages viewers to consider important conversations around environmental threats, climate change, and the applications of science and technology within these challenges. Work alongside colleagues and Michener staff to discuss innovative ideas and develop practical strategies that will engage your students across subject areas and grade levels.

Following focused looking and discussions in the galleries, you will be invited to create your own aesthetic response to these global concerns using mixed media methods inspired by Diane Burko and other artists in the exhibition. You will have the chance to experiment with new materials and techniques with an eye toward inspiring the citizen scientists and artist-activists in your own classroom.

You ONLY register on this site if you need Act 48 hours. A $15 fee for Act 48 hours.

You MUST register at the Michener Art Museum at Fee for this class is $20.00 per person, payable to the Michener Art Museum. Any information or questions, email
