Disrupting the School-to-Prison Pipeline: Successful School Reintegration Following Congregate Care Placement

The Support Center for Child Advocates/Center for Excellence in Advocacy are providing this free workshop to examine the educational barriers associated with a youth's return to a
community school setting following placement in a congregate care facility, and offers positive and collaborative approaches to support a youth's successful return into their educational community. This workshop will provide educational staff with strategies to help youth successfully transition back to school from out of home residential placements.

Learn about the racial disparities that perpetuate systemic barriers for youth and families; and the impact that historically oppressive policies and laws have on the school to-prison pipeline.
Learn ways to provide immediate and ongoing support to students upon re-entering the school setting.Develop an understanding of the issues and struggles that students face upon returning to a school setting.
