Using Routines and Coaching as Therapy Tools

Are you struggling to connect with your students to identify meaningful goals and improve the carryover of practice at home or in schools? It's time to incorporate routines and coaching into your current interventions, whether you are practicing virtually or in person!
In the morning session, Peggy and Beth will walk you through her 5 easy steps to a "Time of Day” (routines-based) approach by immersing yourself in videos of a routines-based conversation with a family, and a teacher to explore critical natural "time of day” activities. They will reference tools such as the Routines-Based Interview, the SATIRE, and the School Function Assessment (SFA) as options to assist with structuring a routines-based approach to assessment for OT, PT, and Speech practitioners across practice settings and age ranges. You will learn to target your observations, create functional goals, and design evidence-informed interventions that promote carryover and achievement of meaningful life outcomes.
In the afternoon session, you will immerse yourself in a coaching therapy session, between a therapist and her clients (child and parents) to perform self-care. They will discuss and demonstrate the different key characteristics, and skills that you need to hone for each of the 6 steps of the Coaching Cycle. They will then show you other videos of how coaching is at home in early intervention, and in a busy classroom environment to promote carryover and confidence of caregivers and teachers supporting the child.
Leave the course with your toolbox packed with the "Time of Day" and Coaching Worksheets and Tools so that you can confidently apply what you learned to your everyday practice right away!
This workshop is also eligible for 0.6 ASHA and 0.6 AOTA credits, more information on how to receive these credits will be provided by Apply EBP during the event.
