Youth Suicide Prevention: QPR Model
This workshop will introduce the QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) model for suicide prevention to school social workers. After the formal presentation, time will be allotted to discuss how to bring the model to middle and high school students, tools used by schools to screen students at risk for suicide, and how schools are managing the mental health needs of students.
• Participants will learn warning signs for suicide.
• Participants will learn how to question a student at risk for suicide and ways to encourage students to become more active in suicide prevention.
• Participants will explore several tools used to screen students at risk for suicide.
