About Steam Education

The Bucks County Intermediate Unit is committed to the advancement of STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math – education.  Originally referred to as STEM, "art" has been integrated as a critical design element that helps take advanced conceptual ideas and transforms them into real, usable tools. Our focus on advancing STEAM education encompasses programs for both students and educators.

Why is STEAM Education so Important?

STEAM education helps students find and be prepared for tomorrows workforce – employment and life in a 21st century, technology-driven, global economy.  By exposing students to more science, technology, engineering, arts, and math, we give them the opportunity to find what interests them.  Within education, we can then look to cultivate and encourage growth and advancement in those areas and guide their future academic choices to best align with their chosen career goals.
