Fab Lab

Drone Academy

Take to the skies with CoDrones! In this 5-week afterschool club, children in grades 5–8 will learn the basics of drone flight and coding through hands-on missions and challenges. Each week, participants will explore flight dynamics, program flight paths, and tackle obstacle courses while building skills in problem-solving, coding, and teamwork. By the end of the club, participants will have the confidence to pilot and program their own drone missions! *NOTE: This club is generously funded by PECO and requires only a $25 reservation fee!

Maker Workshop with Laser Engraving

Explore hands-on making through a series of creative laser-cut projects during this 5-week Saturday workshop. Each week focuses on assembling, customizing, and personalizing a new laser-cut build such as puzzles, bird boxes, games, or decorative designs. Using a variety of materials, participants will practice problem-solving, careful construction, and creative design while learning how digital fabrication is used in real-world making. Each session is designed to be engaging, accessible, and fun, with a finished project to take home each week.

Kids will build interactive 3D maps using real-world terrain and beginner-friendly mapping tools. They will highlight meaningful places such as their own community, favorite locations, or dream destinations while learning how digital maps are used to tell stories and share information. Kids will also have the opportunity to experiment with animated elements and explore how 3D environments are created for games, simulations, and digital media.
